This group is designed to welcome campers with physical and intellectual disabilities, providing a fully accessible and supportive environment where every camper can thrive. Camp Tidnish offers a fun, safe, and inclusive space where campers can build confidence, make friendships, and enjoy a variety of engaging activities tailored to their abilities.
From outdoor adventures and creative arts to recreational games and social activities, our trained staff ensure that each camper receives the care and support they need while having an unforgettable summer experience.

The deadline for Camp Tidnish Scholarship applications is this Friday, February 28th! ๐
These scholarships are open to anyone who meets the criteria, including campers already registered for the summer. If you are selected and your fees have already been paid you will be refunded.
Current Camp Tidnish Scholarship opportunities include:
โ The Durham Laporte Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Durham Laporte and is open to an adult over the age of 19 with a disability who is living in a Residential Care Facility.
โ The Finley Mills Memorial Scholarship is established in memory of Finley Mills and will be awarded to an individual of any age with Down Syndrome.
โ The Kim Wry Bursary for Camp Tidnish is provided by the Zonta Club of Amherst Area and was established in memory of Kim Wry. It will be awarded to two women, 19+ years of age from Cumberland County.
โ The New Vision Special Care Scholarship is made in partnership with New Vision Special Care Homes in honour of caregivers and is open to any individual who has a family member working in the caregiving field.

Applications for the Durham Laporte Memorial Scholarship are now open!
The Durham Laporte Memorial Scholarship is established in memory of Durham Laporte, who was a Camp Tidnish Counsellor who suddenly passed away at the young age of 25.
To honour Durham and his love for Camp Tidnish, his family has created this scholarship, which will be awarded to one family per year and will cover the enrollment fee of a one-week session at Camp Tidnish. The Scholarship will be awarded to an adult over the age of 19 with a disability, living in a Residential Care Facility.

New Vision Special Care Homes, in partnership with Easter Seals Nova Scotia, has generously established a Camp Tidnish scholarship in honour of Caregivers, as a way to give back to those who are always giving of themselves.
The New Vision Special Care Scholarship is open to any individual who has a family member working in the caregiving field, such as NRs, CCAs, RRW, PCW, ILSW, or PCAs.

In partnership with the Rotary Club of Amherst, Easter Seals Nova Scotia hosts and operates Camp Tidnish near Amherst, Nova Scotia. Camp Tidnish is the only barrier-free and fully accessible summer camp for Nova Scotian children, youth, and adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.
Camp Tidnish has provided top-quality programs for over 80 years. Each year, we host hundreds of campers from across Nova Scotia. Our programs are designed with inclusion, independence, and the personal development of our campers in mind.
Our professional and dedicated staff provides exceptional care and leadership. Our counsellor to camper ratio is small, and our team is trained to meet the diverse medical, mobility, personal care, and nutritional needs of our campers.
Our camp offers several interactive and fun overnight camp experiences including boat tours of the Tidnish River, hay rides, fishing, art activities, and swimming in our heated indoor pool. Camp Tidnish also provides campers an opportunity to forge friendships, and to enjoy the thrill of independence of being away from home!

ACTIVITIES AND INCLUSION
Our many activities include swimming in a barrier-free heated indoor pool, boating, canoeing, fishing, music therapy, arts and crafts, gardening, go-kart racing, hayrides, themed group programs and using the swings or our accessible trampoline.
We host campers with a variety of abilities and challenges, including autism spectrum disorder, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, brain injury survivors, spina bifida, global delays, limited mobility, multiple sclerosis, and visual and hearing challenges, among others. We strive to focus on the camperโs abilities and inclusion in all of our activities.
