Want to see something 200 million years in the making?

Balancing Rock, also known as Nature’s Time Post, is a 20 foot high basalt rock formation that was created millions of years ago.

Legend has it that back in the day, fishermen would try to use their mighty boats to yank it down. Luckily or us, no one ever did.

Balancing Rock is at the end of a 30 minute hike through the beautiful landscape of Long Island.

At the end of it, you are also treated to beautiful views of St. Mary’s Bay.

The two level self contained apartment is adjoined to our 1904 century home. The 900 square foot, 1 bedroom plus office is the perfect space for 2 people looking for an extended stay.

The well equipped eat-in kitchen includes a stove, fridge/freezer, dining table and chairs along with crockery, utensils, small appliances and walk-in pantry, complete with washer and dryer.

The bedroom, located on the second floor, is fitted with a luxuriously appointed queen sized bed akin to a 5 star hotel, a mid-length wall mirror, hanging space and plenty of storage. Fluffy towels are on hand in the Spa Inspired bathroom, offering a stand-up shower (no tub) and dressing area..

The living room is comfortable and includes a 40 inch TV complete with Premium Cable, Netflix and an HDMI cable to attach your own streaming device. A DVD player and collection of movies are also on hand along with a variety of classic games, including Monopoly, Jenga, Battleship, a deck of cards and a cribbage board.

Note: must be able to climb stairs.

As the winter days get longer the sunset tonight at 5:30pm did not disappoint.

We are so fortunate to have the Brown Dog Kitchen a short walk from The Maisonette. They are open year round and today was no exception. After clearing the drive from the overnight snowfall, the Boys went for lunch - the picture speaks for itself and all I can say is that it was Dee-Licious!!! We both had the BDK Burger which was melt in your mouth goodness to the Nth degree. Thank you for today's recommendation, BDK 😃
