Throwback to when “out to pasture” retiree Chico decided to not only join the big staff ride, but lead the run as well! #ThrowbackThursday
Merry Christmas, Sundancers! 🎄🎅🏼 #merrychristmas
This was yesterday morning's ride. 🌱👍 **Daily updates on conditions in the comments **
Taken yesterday evening. In the first part of the video, you can just see the fine lines of smoke across the river and into the next valley. Confirming that these fires are far from us, we are not on any evacuation alert, and are safe. Fire activity has moved away from our valley. Thanks to Katy Blakeley and Shadow for the video showcasing the beauty of our valley!
** Conditions much better this morning. As you can see, the smoke is staying mostly on top of the mountains across the valley. Entering a cooling trend starting tomorrow and maybe even some rain on Wednesday, fingers crossed! The camera starts off looking north, pans across the valley looking west to where the mountains are shrouded in smoke, and finishes looking south where you can see the green Sundance pastures.
Video taken from the top of Nighthawk Hill, which you can walk up in about 20 minutes from the ranch.
*UPDATE* We were able to manage a short walking ride only last night, as the smoke worsened. The village of Ashcroft has now been put on Evac Alert, along with all the properties above it, up the highway, which includes us as part of an expanded alert.
Looking at conditions this morning, we will not be riding for the next couple of days if conditions do not change.
This video taken yesterday from the top of nighthawk hill just across the road from us. Looking out across the valley, you can see the line of smoke resting along the mountain tops and below that, the thin lines of white smoke that show where the fires are. The fires are of course much more visible at night but this shows how far away they really are. Fire is moving north, will hopefully be under control well before it gets anywhere near Cache Creek. 🤞
Hello, friends, if you've heard about wildfires in the BC Interior, just wanting to let you know that we are safe. The Shetland Creek wildfire is on the other side of the Thompson River Valley from us, and heading north. We are not on any evacuation alert. We have been through wildfires in our area before and are prepared and proactive. Thanks for all the concern and well wishes! (Can't believe how loud that sprinkler is!)
