As of 12 pm (noon) June 7, 2023 the Township of Southgate has issued a fire ban for the entire Township of Southgate due to extreme dry conditions.

The fire ban includes campfires, agricultural burns, open air burning of any kind and fireworks.

All open air burn permits have been suspended at this time and no new permits will be issued until the ban is lifted.

From mid May to mid October, our seasonal members, live, work and play at Gates of Amida. Every seasonal member has a lot, approximately 60’+ frontage and a depth of 150’+. They set up their trailer, install their decks, gazebos, sheds, lights and everything else that they would at their own backyard. They get to enjoy the park and it’s activities, meet new people, make friends and most important of all they all have a sense of belonging. Over the next couple of weeks we will feature our seasonal members and ask them why they chose Gates of Amida for their second home.

This year we setup 4 raised gardens. We planted peppers 🌶 eggplants 🍆 , cucumbers 🥒 tomatoes 🍅 onions 🧅 pesto 🌿 and basil 🌿
We will harvest them as they ripe, and they will make an excellent contribution to our International pot luck which we will hold sometime in September.

Our seasonal members will be showcasing their cuisine, and we expect to taste delicious Kurdish, Canadian, Portuguese, Irish, British, German,French, Hungarian, Colombian, Caribbean, Jamaican and Turkish dishes. Our potluck will also raise funds for local food banks.

Did you know, at Gates of Amida, we have a stone circle area called Chesterk Star Gazing ✨✨✨
This is where all of our campers 🏕🏕🏕go to stargaze with their telescopes. Also, we are about 579m above sea level, making us one of the highest points in Ontario🏔

The James Webb Space Telescope is the most complex and powerful space telescope ever built. Canada has contributed a scientific instrument and a guidance sensor. Canadian scientists are taking part in its exciting science mission that promises to change our understanding of the universe. Webb is an international collaboration between NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Canadian Space Agency.

This is one of our many RV/Trailer sites. Sites are approximately 1/4 acre and you have the entire site for yourself. Welcome to a new a refined way of seasonal camping.

Estate size, Seasonal RV/Trailer Sites are now available for 2022.
May 15 to October 31 - includes water, hydro and sewer and complimentary use of canoes, kayaks and paddle boards, for only $3,800+hst per site. None of our RV sites are side by side, this is a gated community with each site having total privacy.

Last week today we welcomed and to Gates of Amida. We spent the weekend together and learned a lot from each other. They loved rural Ontario and their vision perfectly aligns with ours “ creating a vibrant and inclusive environment that is both sustainable and resilient, through elements of arts, culture and creativity, where sense of belonging naturally develops and elevates”
Emre Arolat, along with Zeynep Arolat, and the rest of our team including , travis inc and other partners, will help realize this vision for Gates of Amida, along with the support of , Grey County, , and residents of Southgate and Grey County; with special thanks to our neighbouring farmers and agricultural farmers.

Thank you for coming to Canada and we believe your works will become an inspiration for you he architectural community and architectural leaders of tomorrow, and none the less be appreciated by not only by the residents of Gates of Amida but also residents of of rural Ontario.
