Following Parks Canada announcement to re-open the Icefield Parkway, we are excited to share that the Columbia Icefield will also re-open on Friday, August 9.
Road restrictions will be lifted along the Icefield Parkway (Highway 93), stretching from Saskatchewan River Crossing to the Athabasca Glacier area of the Columbia Icefield.
This re-opening will allow access to the Columbia Icefield via the southern end of this iconic roadway that connects Jasper and Banff national parks, as well as neighboring HI Rampart Creek Wilderness Hostel and The Crossing Resort.
The Columbia Icefield is located approximately 100 km (62 miles), from the town of Jasper.
Experiences re-opening to guests on Friday, August 9 include: The Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre, Columbia Icefield Adventure, Ice Odyssey and Columbia Icefield Skywalk. This also includes the reopening of Brewster Sightseeing tours and Brewster Express shuttles to the Columbia Icefield.
We will also re-open the Glacier View Lodge to guests on Saturday, August 10.

The community of Jasper has suffered unimaginable loss as a result of devastating wildfires. With everyone safely evacuated from the townsite our focus is on taking care of each other.

We have a challenging road ahead and will continue to be there for our team, their families and our neighbours. We are working closely with the municipality of Jasper, Parks Canada and tourism partners and together we remain strong and resilient.

We want to thank firefighters and emergency workers for their heroic efforts, as they work tirelessly around the clock and will continue to do so in the coming days.

While we are still learning of the full impact of the fires, we are fully committed to supporting Jasper and its recovery.
