Less than a month until our first market of the season! Join us every other Wednesday from 4pm-8pm on the Bear River Waterfront starting on June 5th!
Come down for a night of good food (we’ll have produce, baked goods, hot meals, local honey, plant starters, and so much more), grab a drink at the Bear River Legion (they’ll be open during the night market hours for beverages or bathroom breaks) and enjoy some amazing live music (we’ve got a lineup of musicians from all over the province!)

Brier Island Whale and Seabird Cruises has been collecting data and contributing to the North Atlantic Humpback Whale Catalog managed by Allied Whale in Bar Harbor, Maine and to the Gulf of Maine Humpback Whale Catalog at the Center for Coastal Studies for decades and we have the longest continuous history of documenting whales in the Bay of Fundy. (And because of that, we can recognize them immediately while out on our whale watch cruise) Among the tasks that we do in the winter, is sorting the thousands of photographs and organizing the data for submission. We just completed our 2022 data.

This map represents the sightings of individual humpback whales in the Bay of Fundy during our 2022 season. This is NOT all of our sightings but is one or two sightings of each individual humpback whale. We documented 145 individuals in that year. Some of them were only seen one time but others, like Lacuna, Magpie and Sutures were sighted quite frequently.

Our 2024 season is fast approaching, and we are busily preparing for opening day. We can't wait to see which of these whales make their return to the Bay!
