What better way to connect with our heritage than indulging in that timeless, universal treat: Chocolate. In 18th-century Louisbourg, chocolate was expensive, and a luxury most often found in the homes of the French elite. 🍫

And if we don’t have enough reasons to enjoy chocolate already, during the 18th century it was believed to have medicinal properties, warming people from the inside, and giving them strength and energy.

Indulge in this delicious treat at the two-day Fête du Chocolat, led by Maritime chocolate makers Evertide Cholate Makers, Chocolat Voyageur, and Island Chocolates, at the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site.

The peak dates are impossible to predict but, typically our peak season for colour ranges between October 10th - 23rd with still some colour after their peak times before the leaves fall. Join us as we celebrate 100 years of the Louisbourg Lighthouse, a beacon that has guided the community of Louisbourg and visitors alike for 10 decades. Today, we’ll come together to honour this symbol of our maritime heritage with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live music, food, and heartfelt tributes.

🕛 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at Louisbourg Lighthouse, 555 Havenside Road

🕛 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Louisbourg Waterfront, Mitchell Street
