Kapital Kidvention's Deal Day is coming up on Sept. 16th. This is the "one-day" registration for the convention in February. The cost will only be $250 but you must register on Deal Day because the price goes up to $375 the next day. The more that register, the more freebies all attendees will get!

Thank you Dave Watters and Cathie Watters for opening your home in Harrison for our annual FVMC picnic ♥️🇨🇦🎩🪄🤩😁🧺🍔🌭🍪

The games were amazing!

Congrats to Cathie for winning in mini golf - and second place to Bruce Hunt - and bronze to Scott Barker!

Horseshoes was won by Mike Norden - with second place to Bruce and third to Julie!

The winners of the Great Canadian Challenge will be announced soon!

Thank you to members for all their help - to Scott and Gwen for shopping for food - for Bruce for bringing his buns (?) lol - and for Rob Teszka for doing emcee duties.

Glen LaBarre, Scott, Bruce and Mike all performed for the audience - along with SAM member Ray Wong!

Well done to all!

Meeting Re-cap June 14, 2024

The meeting was held at the Opening Night Theatre in Mission. The doors opened at 6pm to socialize, Mike opened the meeting at about 7:15pm, as our current president Rob Teszka, was performing at the Fringe Festival in Montreal.

Discussion and suggestions on how to use the Gord Mac Fund were put forward, with one suggestion to use it to cover registration costs for junior members to attend PCAM conventions. This was motioned and passed! We are open to other suggestions as well.

Other topics discussed were to move the different magic contests on to a 2 year cycle, the FVMC web site has been completed but not yet online, and no lectures are currently booked.

Gord brought in a large box of books and instructions from Paul Kilshaw’s estate that were auctioned off. Dave Watters won the auction and only took a few books that he wanted and gave the rest to Scott Barker. Thank you Dave!

After that we had our Stage and Variety competition with Scott Barker, Glenn LaBarre, and Chris Yuill competing in the Stage category, there were no entrants in the Variety. Paul Romhany was last years winner and was the MC for this year. Paul did an excellent job as MC with some funny jokes and some great magic.

Scott Barker went first with his version of Dean’s Box. Then Glenn LaBarre opened his set with a great 4 ring routine, followed by an invisible cards trick, then a card routine with different fruits and vegetables printed on the backs of cards. Chris, the last contestant, did a comical routine involving Rubiks Cubes.

Paul did a nice routine with some cruise ship rope, and a numbers prediction trick as the judges were compiling the final scores.

Chris Yuill was the winner of this years Stage Competition, CONGRATULATIONS Chris!

The meeting wrapped up after that and we all went out to eat.

Is there anyone, that was hoping to go to IBM convention in Tacoma, but has not purchased thier registration as of yet? I am not going now and have asked for a refund, but it may be after the cutoff date, so I would glady sell it to someone at a discounted rate. They said it can be transferred.
