๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿพ Wow, canโ€™t believe it!

Tomorrow marks my last tour of the 2024 season, and Iโ€™m heading back to the Broughton Archipelago and Knight Inlet one last time!

As we approach autumn, the weather can be unpredictable, but it looks like weโ€™re in for a treat: the rain is set to clear, and the winds should calm down.

The boat is all setโ€”packed, fueled, and checked for oil. We got fresh drinking water from our own well and are ready to go on the Ambient Light.

Next up: prepping fresh food for lunch and getting the coffee and tea cups ready for an early morning start.

We will be in the truck early tomorrow and drive straight down to Alder Bay RV Park & Marina to launch the boat.

And then itโ€™s all up to the nature and wildlife gods. l
Luckily, I usually have a good relationship with them! ๐ŸŒฒโœจ

Knight Inlet in British Columbia is one of the most beautiful places I've ever experienced. Feeling blessed to spend most of my summer days here! ๐ŸŒฒโœจ

Here's a stunning drone panorama of Glacier Bay in late spring, a place I don't get to visit often, but it blows me away every time. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ’š

Knight Inlet is within the traditional territory of the Daโ€™Naxdaโ€™xw Awaetlala First Nation in British Columbia, Canada.

I'm very proud and happy to have my images (actually two) used in this article. Yet I'm also very disappointed about the photo credit given to two photo agencies instead of the photographer.

That also means that two agencies made money on the image while I have not even received a notification for the sale, which probably turns out to be another 5$ sale after the agencies have shared all their shares.

And we wonder what is wrong with this world? ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿคฃ

More importantly, the image was photographed right here in front of 'Yalis, aka Alert Bay, in the Traditional Territory of the Namgis First Nation, off Vancouver Island North , British Columbia, Canada.

The iconic marine mammals may not belong to one species but several. Surprise!

Herring is still going strong today in front of our house in Hyde Creek, the Traditional Territories of the Namgis First Nations.

It is such a fantastic experience to see the herring spawn right in front of the house.

Last year was the first year it was recorded in our area ever, and it is even better to get confirmed again this year.

It took a couple of days to get to Hyde Creek from Port McNeill and further down the Strait.

Watching the milt change the water's colour is magic.

It provides plenty of food for many different animals in the region, from birds to sea lions to our humpback whales.

Such exciting days!

The Artists Point B&B

โ€œThe Artists Point Bed, Breakfast and Photo Toursโ€ is a beautiful and unique getaway, ideal for families. With stunning ocean views, it is nestled on 2.3 acres in the rural community of Hyde Creek near Port McNeill and Telegraph Cove, and Port Hardy is only 35 min away. Rolf likes it private, individual and flexible, the main reasons he only offer two suites (great for families).

The B&B is very suitable for those who have a passion for nature (and photography) and desire to experience the majestic landscape and wilderness of the Northern coastal region of Vancouver Island. Rolf offers a private photo tour option (with a maximum of 4 participants) for you to discover the beauty.

Rolfโ€™s two private guest suites overlook the magnificent Coast Mountain Range with it's snow capped peaks and lush coniferous forest and offers stunning ocean views of Broughton Strait, gateway to the famed Broughton Archipelago and the Great Bear Rainforest. May/June is hummingbird season and there is a good chance that you might get buzzed by those beautiful birds.

Your host, Rolf Hicker, strives to offer you a calm and relaxed atmosphere with as little or as much privacy as you want. Feel free to help him in the garden or join him for an outside evening barbecue. The ocean is just down the hill and a short 3-minute walk will take you to a tranquil beach where you may chance upon an eagle fishing, a family of Orca's on their way to their rubbing beach, dolphins playing a game of catch-me-if-you-can or seals popping up like curious onlookers.
