Applications are open.

Applications are now open for financial support for Nova Scotians affected by .

Visit novascotia.ca/hurricane-fiona-support/ for financial supports for individuals, non-profits, businesses, and municipalities.

Applications are open for:

-- $100 for every household that lost power for at least 48 hours to help with the cost of spoiled food
-- Up to $250 for every person that has to pay for tree removal from their property
-- an additional $250 on top of the $750 seniors care grant to help with storm repairs
-- $1,000 per household in emergency funding for people ordered out of their homes or who cannot return to their homes; administered through the Red Cross
-- the Disaster Financial Assistance Program covers up to $200,000 in uninsurable losses per eligible household, small business, and not-for-profit

People with questions can also contact a new toll-free information line at 1-888-428-2256.

Nova Scotians without power can visit their municipal or MLA offices, Access Nova Scotia centres or their local library for assistance in applying online. Paper applications will be available at MLA offices soon.

CAPER MEMORIAL: Due to the impact hurricane Fiona has had on our island, we have decided to POSTPONE our Caper Memorial Event that was supposed to be held on October 1st.

As we also have some minor damages to the facility, we wanted to give our race teams, and fans the opportunity to take care of their families and their homes, and not have to worry about missing out on the last event of the year on account of this devastating impact on our community.

We are working on the details for the new date, and we will provide you all with an update as soon as we can!

We would like to extend our gratitude to all of those who put their own lives on the line to provide emergency and clean-up services to our communities.

For now - take care of yourselves, check on your neighbours, and stay safe.

🚨 🚗 Membertou Traffic Plan 🚗 🚨

➡️ This plan is in effect to address the traffic congestion for Mi’kmaq Gas & Convenience and the Membertou Market in response to power outages caused by Hurricane Fiona. This plan is in place to streamline the flow of traffic so that at no point, the Membertou community is denied access to their homes, or emergency services. Local community traffic will still have access beyond these points.

➡️ This traffic route will be enforced by directional signage and barricades throughout the community. There will be staff and volunteers on-site to assist you with navigating this traffic route.
