Shocked by the Nearly BILLION Views on This Influencer’s Morning Routine!

Have you heard of the (Get Ready With Me) trend? While it's largely aimed at girls, there are plenty of similar videos geared toward guys too.

Recently, I stumbled upon one influencer whose morning routine has racked up almost a billion views!

While I appreciate personal expression, I can’t help but raise some crucial concerns about the impact of such content on children especially:

- Potential for Comparison: These videos can create unrealistic standards, and as adults, we know the pressure to compare ourselves is already intense. What about children viewers?
- Inappropriate Followers: Can children recognize predators online? Are they aware of when to come to us for help?
- External Validation: Kids are sensitive to social feedback. How is your child’s self-esteem doing? What drives their desire to post? Can they handle negative feedback? (Can anyone!?)
- Promoting Consumerism: Many young people aspire to be influencers for the money and material goods, leading them to equate their worth with possessions.
- Digital Footprint: Every video contributes to an online identity that can have lasting implications.

But more importantly... Why do we engage with this content?!

Let’s not forget that this influencer's "morning routine" is a carefully crafted performance—what started as a 6-hour process probably took 18 hours to film and edit to show the world what he wants viewers to think his morning routine looks like.

I discussed these issues last night with an amazing group of parents and kids during a presentation, emphasizing the absurdity of watching others live their lives instead of focusing on our own.

🗣️ Conversation Starter for Parents: Discussing Online Safety and Respect 🗣️

Have you heard about the recent incident where an 18-year-old woman was secretly filmed in an Ontario mall for a viral TikTok video that mocked women? This video has sparked discussions about misogyny and our responsibility in the digital world.

💬 As parents, it's essential to talk to our kids about the impact of such videos and the messages they portray. Here are a few points to consider:

- Understanding Consent: Discuss the importance of consent and the impact of being filmed without permission. Why is it crucial to respect others' privacy, especially in public spaces?

- Recognizing Misogyny: Encourage your kids to think critically about the content they consume. How can they identify and challenge harmful stereotypes or negative portrayals of women?

- Digital Footprint: Remind your kids that their online interactions matter. Engaging with videos that promote disrespect can signal to algorithms that they want to see more of the same. A simple like or comment can leave a lasting digital footprint—think before you click! 💭

Engage your children in this conversation. What are your thoughts? How can we foster a respectful online community together?

Are We Losing the Art of In-Person Interaction? 🤔

Have you ever noticed how much our communication has shifted toward text and digital content? With the rise of captions in entertainment—especially in short-form videos on TikTok, YouTube clips, and even memes—it's clear that reading has become a core part of our viewing experience.

But this leads us to wonder: Has the increase in text-based communication and digital interactions contributed to a decline in in-person social skills? Are we missing out on the nuances of face-to-face conversations as we rely more on captions and written content to convey messages?

We'd love to hear your thoughts! Do you think this trend affects our ability to connect with others in real life? Let's discuss!

❗️Attention Parents! ❗️

Did you know that high levels of social media use can be linked to delusional disorders such as narcissism, paranoia, and body image issues? Recent research reveals that social media can create an environment where our kids may develop distorted self-perceptions and feel pressured to maintain false identities.

👩‍👧‍👦 As parents, it's essential to have open conversations with our children about their online experiences. Here are a few questions you can ask:

-How do you feel when you see others' posts online?
-Do you ever feel pressured to look a certain way or portray a specific image on social media?
-Can you share any positive or negative experiences you've had while using social media?
-What do you think about the differences between online interactions and in-person relationships?

Let's help our kids navigate the digital world with awareness and confidence! 💬❤️

This issue highlights the urgent need for awareness and action against online threats. Please find some time to watch it and share it with others who may benefit from understanding this problem.

"764" is a global cult of online predators — many are teenagers targeting vulnerable children. They coerce minors to self-harm and have even plotted acts of ...

Today, I had the privilege of speaking to students for World Down Syndrome Day 💙💛

We talked about what Down syndrome is, why words matter, and the importance of choosing kindness over cruelty. The R-word—a slur that’s sadly making a comeback—was front and center in our conversation. We explored why it’s deeply hurtful, and why just because you can say something doesn’t mean you should.

My hope? That these students walk away knowing that inclusion starts with respect—and that our words have power. 💬✨
