Penmanship.

My mom had the best most perfect penmanship. PERFECT.
I was cursed with chicken scratch. Which you’ll see on the handwritten notes I leave for you in your packages. Maybe you can read them, maybe not.

Growing up, we would play with my mom’s calligraphy set. Trying the tips, spilling the ink, making beautiful art.

We are excited to have .craft coming to teach you the art of calligraphy. You’ll work with Janet to create a one of a kind piece of art, which I will then transfer onto a leather journal for you. This will make for the most perfect gift right in time for Mother’s Day.

I met Ava through . Ava ran and is currently running a Women and Gender-Diverse Carpentry Workshop and I was lucky enough to be in the first cohort. My bird house I built is still is vacant but I had an absolute blast learning from .art.
We are thrilled to bring in Ava to help us carve some spoons! This workshop will sell out so quickly, I am certain! So certain there is talks of a second workshop.

Are you ready for the ultimate low-pressure crafting adventure?

Join us on the first Saturday of every month from 10-12pm as we tackle *just one* knitted granny square. That’s right—no marathon knitting, no frantic counting, just a delightful square at a time. Think of it as a journey, not a sprint—except the finish line is a fabulous granny square cardigan you’ll adore!

Here’s the deal:

- We meet monthly to knit, chat, and embrace the joy of slow progress.
- December is our big moment—a seaming party to bring all your squares together in cardigan glory. (We’ll also bring snacks. No one can seam without snacks.)
- Membership is free because so is laughter.
- And here’s the cherry on top: club members enjoy 15% off their project yarn in-store.

Let’s craft with zero judgment, a sprinkle of humor, and lots of love for the process. Because life is busy, sleeves are optional, and knitted granny squares are forever.

We’ve got some fun new things happening in the new year! I’m super excited to Introduce *The Square Society*! 🎉

We loved the so much that we turned it into a club!
Each month, we’ll gather on the first Saturday to make 1 granny square together, plus one more at home. Over time, your square count will grow and by December, we’ll celebrate with a seaming party to finish our cardigans in style! ✨ Come join the fun, connect with fellow makers, and let’s crochet our way to something beautiful, month by month. 🧶💖

Why do we do movie nights?

Over the past year, we have been working tirelessly to build community. To get folks out of their homes and into a safe space where we can craft together, thrive in the company of others and leave feeling fulfilled. But when asked why folks don’t come out to play a common response is that they don’t know anyone, they are too shy, they are intimidated because they aren’t exceptional crafters…. Self doubt will win every time if you let it.

I get it, I TRULY do.

We started movie nights as an icebreaker, a distraction if you will. A place to craft together without the pressure of conversation or show and tell.
We move our tables out of the way to make room for lawn chairs because our couch seating is limited. We have some neck lamps on hand if you need some extra light. Most of folks are knitters, but all crafts are welcome. It’s a low cost, low pressure gathering to introduce you to some of the friendliest folks on this earth, Crafters/Makers.

Our aim is to host them the 3rd Friday of the month with the exception of November.

We hope to see you tomorrow for The Big Lebowski!

It isn’t super necessary to book a ticket but it sure helps with planning out snacks and seating.

FRIDAY!!!! 49 days since I popped in to say hello. That's unacceptable Crystal. UNACCEPTABLE! But in my defence, I've been building my #Bevolution (advice from my favourite momma) "Sometimes the toughest decisions in life end up giving us the best results."~ The Goldbergs. After the laser aka "the beast" kicked the bucket I was suddenly faced with tough business decisions. Little did i know Beast was a powerhouse and a replacement of a comparable machine was upwards of $50,000. Yep. 50. So every morning for 49 days, I knit in darkness for 20 min and sat with the question, "Why did i build Purl & Hank? " Was it just to own an expensive piece of equipment? It took a couple weeks but slowly my why became more evident. Purl & Hank, stripped back to the core is simply the marriage between a love of knitting and a quest for a more peaceful & healthy mind. Why did I start Purl & Hank? Because of you all. Because when I'm peacefully stitching accessories for YOUR thoughtfully crafted knitwear it sparks something wonderful in me. A desire to be of service to my knitting community. We are happily out-sourcing our laser cutting for now to make room for new things and more connection with you. While we haven't received our leather goods yet, we are hopeful they will be here soon. Until then, I'll knit and unpack some more mind clutter. p.s. google bevolution.
